A Message from Richard Risinger
to the Voters of Harris County
I have announced that I will seek the Republican nomination for Judge of the 80th Judicial District Court.
I want to be your district court judge because I believe strongly that all residents of our area deserve justice in a fair, impartial and expeditious manner. As a public servant, I know that it is my job to help you, the people. I pledge to the citizens of Harris County, that, if elected, I will use all of the experience I have gained over the years to ensure that the court is fair and efficient. To help fulfill my pledge, I will work in coordination with my staff, citizens, and other judges and attorneys. I further pledge that I will use my experience to make decisions on the bench as a judge, not as a legislator.
A Career of Service
I have served the community for over 20 years as a prosecutor, city attorney, civil litigation attorney and judge. In 2003, I was appointed as a judge by current Precinct 8, Place 2, Justice of the Peace, Louie Ditta. and it has been an honor to serve the citizens in this position. Judge Ditta, showed a lot of trust and confidence in me to be honest, trustworthy and fair. As an attorney and judge, I have taken an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, and I have sincerely done my best to uphold my oath throughout my professional career.
As a prosecutor, city attorney and civil litigation attorney, I have resolved thousands of cases through negotiations and trials. I have also assisted citizens in keeping up the integrity of their neighborhoods through prosecution of code violations and through enforcement of deed restrictions. Furthermore, I have successfully defended the city and many of its employees, police officers and firefighters in civil cases that were filed against them in Harris County district courts and county courts. The most rewarding part of my career has been helping other people in our community.

• Republican Leadership Council, Harris County Republican Party
• Long-time financial contributor to and volunteer for Republican candidates and causes

• San Jacinto Republican Women, Associate Member
• Pasadena South Rotary Club, President
• Pasadena Bar Association, Past President
• Pasadena Noon Optimist Club, Past President

I am a life-long resident of Harris County. I graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1982. I received my undergraduate degree in Business Finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986. I went on to study law at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and London, England, completing my Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Houston in 1990.
I am married to Debra Risinger, who previously worked as Project Engineer for Boeing/Cimarron on the International Space Station Program. Debra now enjoys working as a mother to our first child, Reagan, who we were Blessed with in 2010. Debra is also President of the San Jacinto Republican Women, member of the Bay Area Republican Women and member of the Clear Lake Area Republicans and was an at-large delegate to the Texas Republican State Convention. We are active in the First Christian Church of Pasadena.
I have gained so much valuable experience over the years working with judges, clerks, bailiffs, attorneys, witnesses, jurors, employees, volunteers, citizens, and elected officials.
